Policy

Introduction

McKinleys Group Trading Limited and each of its affiliates (“we”, “our” or the “Company”) is committed to complying with all relevant environmental regulations and legislation and to conducting its business operations in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. We recognise the importance of protecting the environment for future generations and strive to minimise our ecological footprint through continuous improvement and innovation in our practices and are committed to improving our environmental performance and implementing best practice to minimise the environmental impacts of our business operations.

Scope

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and stakeholders involved in the operations of the Company, both full time and part time. It encompasses all aspects of our business, including procurement, distribution, and the lifecycle of our packaging products.

This policy does not form part of any contract of employment or other contract to provide services, and we may amend it at any time.

Policy aims include:

  • Implement environmental actions within our organisation
  • Monitor the environmental actions and improvements internally
  • Demonstrate leadership by working sustainably with suppliers, communicating with customers and recommending industry-relevant environmental initiatives

Objectives

Our environmental objectives are in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards framework and include our 3-year goals below:

• We aim to develop the best tools for us to generate, manage and measure data regarding energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
• Minimising energy and water consumption. We aim to decrease energy and water use by 5% by end of 2027.
• Preventing pollution and minimising harmful emissions. We aim to decrease our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions by 5% by the end of 2027.
• Reducing waste and promoting recycling. We aim to decrease waste production by 10% by the end of 2027.
• Ensuring sustainable sourcing of materials. We are committed to sourcing certified eco-friendly products. We also aim to work only with suppliers who are environmentally responsible and comply with McKinleys Suppliers code of Conduct. Aim to get 100% of suppliers to sign the code of conduct by 2027.
• Educating and engaging our employees and stakeholders on environmental issues. We aim to provide training to all our staff on environmental issues by 2027 to raise more awareness.
• We are committed to helping our customers to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly by offering them eco-friendly products to reduce plastic use. Our carton packaging is 100% recyclable, and some of the plastic products are made from at least 30% recycled material. We communicate our sustainability services to customers, such as take-back (collect wooden pallets).

Commitments

To achieve our objectives, we commit to the following actions:

1. Energy and Water Conservation
• Utilise energy-efficient technologies and practices in our operations and facilities.
• Monitor and manage energy and water usage to minimise consumption and waste.

2. Pollution Prevention
• Comply with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
• Implement measures to reduce emissions and prevent pollution from our operations.
• Collect annual data for our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 and report annually on all CO2 emissions to monitor and reduce the emissions.
• Optimisation of our fleet efficiency by supporting our drivers with traffic updates.
• Regularly review and improve our environmental practices to prevent and mitigate environmental impacts.

3. Waste Reduction and Recycling
• Implemented efficient waste management practices/initiatives to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials. We are providing recycle bins in all our offices, canteen and warehouse to segregate the waste and dispose of it correctly to reduce our landfill waste amount.
• Work with customers to facilitate the return and recycling of used pallets.
• Aim to reduce packaging waste through innovative design and material optimisation. We offer products that is eco-friendly and recyclable.

4. Sustainable Sourcing
• Prioritise suppliers who demonstrate a commitment to environmental sustainability. We aim to ensure that all our suppliers have in place their own environmental policies to demonstrate their carbon footprint and carbon reduction targets, where possible. We have implemented Suppliers code of conduct to ensure we monitor suppliers’ compliance with environmental requirements.
• Source materials that are recyclable, biodegradable, or made from recycled content. Our carton packaging is 100% recyclable, and some of the plastic products are made from at least 30% recycled material.
• Support and promote the use of renewable resources.

5. Employee Engagement
• Educate and train employees on environmental best practices and the importance of sustainability. We aim to provide environmental training to all our staff to raise awareness.
• Encourage and support employee initiatives aimed at improving our environmental performance.
• We aim to be environmentally certified by the end of 2027 (ISO 14001)

6. Customer Engagement
• We offer all customers eco-friendly products to reduce plastic use. We communicate our sustainability services to customers, such as take-back (collect wooden pallets).
• Engage with customers to promote and collaborate on sustainability efforts through channels like annual exhibitions, partnerships with customers, case studies and blogs featured on our website.

Implementation and Monitoring

We will integrate this environmental policy into our business strategy and operational procedures. We will establish measurable targets and monitor our progress regularly to ensure continuous improvement.

• Conduct regular sustainability/ESG assessments (via Eco Vadis platform)
• Report our environmental performance transparently to stakeholders.
• Review and update this policy annually to reflect new developments and ensure its effectiveness and relevance.

Communication

This policy will be communicated to all employees, suppliers, customers, and stakeholders. We will review this Environmental Policy annually and measuring targets and performance as part of that review.
